Kwabena Adu-Boahene, former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), has been arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) upon his arrival at Kotoka International Airport.
The arrest, carried out in collaboration with the Attorney-General’s Department, took place on the evening of Thursday, March 20, 2025. Adu-Boahene was intercepted as he disembarked from a British Airways flight from Heathrow, London, with EOCO operatives executing an arrest warrant against him.
Though EOCO has not officially commented on the specifics of the case, sources indicate that he is under investigation for serious financial offenses, including money laundering, fraud, misappropriation of public funds, and causing financial loss to the state.
The high-profile nature of this case has sent ripples through Ghana’s security circles, as the NSB plays a crucial role in national intelligence operations. Adu-Boahene’s arrest also aligns with President John Mahama’s **Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL)** initiative, which seeks to retrieve state resources lost through corruption.
Raymond Archer, EOCO’s Acting Deputy Executive Director, was personally present at the airport ahead of the operation, highlighting the significance of the arrest in the government’s broader anti-corruption agenda.
