The quest for justice in the murder of 38-year-old Immigration Officer, Stephen King Amoah, has been dealt another twist following the death of a third suspect in police custody.
Family members of the late officer fear the development could further delay or complicate investigations into the high-profile case, which has gripped national attention since July.
The deceased suspect, whose name has not been disclosed, reportedly died after a short illness. His passing was confirmed to Citi News by the officer’s brother, Kwasi Amoako, who said he was informed of the matter by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
“Yesterday we went to court and I can confirm that the third suspect has passed on. I was told by the Police CID, the one who is in charge of the case. We thank God that our brother has started seeking justice for himself,” Mr. Amoako stated.
The death comes as the Amoah family continues to demand a swift and thorough investigation to ensure all those responsible for the officer’s brutal killing are held accountable.
Amoah was declared missing on July 3, 2025, after leaving home to meet a friend at Ashongman Estate. His charred remains were discovered six days later at Abuom Junction, near Kwabenya. The gruesome discovery sparked a manhunt that led to the arrest of several suspects.
While police are yet to issue an official statement on the latest development, legal analysts warn that the death of another suspect could complicate the prosecution’s case and raise questions about the pace and handling of investigations.
For now, Amoah’s grieving family insists only a transparent process will bring them the closure they desperately seek.
