Former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame has delivered a sharp rebuttal to legal practitioner Thaddeus Sory’s recent criticisms, reigniting a long-standing rivalry within Ghana’s legal community.
In a detailed social media response, Dame dismissed Sory’s claims that he never acknowledged legal defeats during his tenure, citing several unanimous Supreme Court rulings against his office, including landmark cases involving the removal of a former Auditor-General and Covid-19 restrictions.
Dame also criticized Sory’s insinuation about his professional growth, reminding the public of a prior legal battle where Sory was decisively defeated in a case between 2007 and 2009, years before Dame’s appointment as Attorney-General.
He further noted the strategic withdrawal of a Supreme Court appeal in a 2025 case by the current Attorney-General, suggesting that Sory’s narrative overlooks key details.
Concluding his response, Dame implied that Sory’s recent statements reflect more personal grievance than legal fact, underscoring the intensity of the dispute as it continues to capture the attention of Ghana’s legal circles.
