Ghana is poised to strengthen its ties with one of Asia’s largest economies as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for a landmark two-day official visit to the country from July 2 to July 3, 2025.
This high-profile visit marks a significant milestone, being the first by an Indian Prime Minister in recent years, and underscores a shared vision for deeper cooperation between Accra and New Delhi.
The Office of the President describes the visit as a renewal of the longstanding friendship between the two nations, with both leaders set to engage in comprehensive discussions spanning trade, investment, agriculture, education, healthcare, technology, and energy. These talks are expected to pave the way for expanded economic and developmental partnerships.
Central to the visit will be the signing of multiple bilateral agreements aimed at formalizing cooperation frameworks and opening doors to greater collaboration across sectors. These agreements are anticipated to catalyze investments and innovation, while promoting sustainable growth benefiting both countries.
President John Dramani Mahama and Prime Minister Modi will jointly present these new initiatives during a media briefing, offering insights into the shared roadmap that promises to elevate Ghana-India relations to new heights.
The diplomatic engagement will be further marked by a State Dinner hosted by President Mahama at the Jubilee House, bringing together government officials, business leaders, and diplomats to celebrate the deepening partnership.
India’s extensive history as a development partner to Ghana — particularly in infrastructure, ICT, education, and industrial development — forms a strong foundation for this visit. With this renewed focus, Ghana looks to leverage Indian expertise and investment to accelerate national development and foster inclusive prosperity.
As Ghana and India embark on this refreshed partnership, the visit symbolizes not just a diplomatic gesture but a strategic alliance aimed at harnessing technology, trade, and human capital for mutual benefit in an increasingly interconnected world.
