A fresh legal battle has emerged in the high-profile divorce case between businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye (RNAQ) and his former wife, Joana Quaye, after Joana formally petitioned Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie and the Judicial Council over the conduct of the presiding judge.
The petition targets Justice Justin Dorgu, who delivered final orders on January 20, 2026, covering property division, child custody, and maintenance. However, the full written judgment explaining the basis for the ruling was only released on April 20, 2026—one day after the statutory three-month appeal deadline had expired.
Lawyers for Joana Quaye, Dame & Partners, argue that the delayed release of the judgment denied their client a fair opportunity to properly review the court’s reasoning and file an appeal. The petition claims the judge’s actions raise serious concerns about procedural fairness, insisting that issuing final orders before releasing the detailed judgment undermined Joana Quaye’s right to challenge the ruling.
