Clemence Kofi Agbotey, a government appointee at the Ketu South Municipal Assembly, has announced plans to contest for the position of Deputy Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency.
His campaign is expected to focus strongly on grassroots mobilisation, youth involvement and improving internal party coordination.
In a statement, Mr Agbotey said he wants to help strengthen the party’s structures and improve communication among branches, wards and constituency executives.
He said one of his priorities would be to encourage more active participation by party members while expanding voter registration efforts, especially among young people and first-time voters.
Mr Agbotey believes that stronger grassroots engagement will help maintain the NDC’s long-standing dominance in Ketu South.
The constituency has remained one of the party’s strongest support bases since 1992, consistently delivering large numbers of votes during elections.
According to him, he would work closely with the Constituency Secretary to improve coordination among party units and support more effective election campaigns.
He also pledged to promote capacity building for members, strengthen collaboration with stakeholders and encourage broader participation across the party.
Mr Agbotey pointed to his years of experience in local governance and party activities as a major advantage.
He previously served for eight years as Assembly Member for the Blekusu Electoral Area and currently holds positions as Somé Fugo Zonal Secretary, Branch Chairman for the Blekusu Health Post, and Government Appointee to the Ketu South Municipal Assembly.
He has also worked as a polling agent, Ward Collation Officer and member of the party’s Election Directorate.
Mr Agbotey said these experiences have given him a strong understanding of party organisation, elections and grassroots politics.
He called on party members and supporters to back his bid, expressing confidence that the NDC can continue to strengthen its support base in Ketu South through unity and collective effort.
