Asante Kotoko has appointed former Netherlands international Stanley Purl Menzo as its new Director of Football, in a move aimed at strengthening the club’s technical direction and long-term competitiveness.
The appointment forms part of a wider restructuring strategy by the club to modernise its football operations and restore its dominance in Ghanaian and African football.
Menzo, who enjoyed a distinguished playing career with Ajax—making over 300 appearances and winning multiple league and cup titles—also represented the Netherlands at the 1990 FIFA World Cup and the European Championship.
In his first comments after the appointment, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying he is committed to working closely with the technical team, players, and management to build a strong and successful side capable of winning trophies.
Club officials say his arrival is a key pillar in Kotoko’s rebuilding plan, with Executive Chairman James Osei Brown describing Menzo as a leader with elite international experience and a modern football perspective.
According to the club, his role will focus on strengthening structures behind the scenes, improving technical coordination, and building a sustainable model for long-term success.
The club believes the appointment marks a significant step toward restoring Kotoko’s competitive edge both domestically and on the continental stage.
