The Krachi East Municipal Assembly is set to host a community viewing event for Ghana’s crucial FIFA World Cup 2026 Group Stage clash against Croatia, as part of efforts to unite residents and promote national pride through football.
The Assembly will mount a giant screen at the Katanga Durbar Grounds on Saturday, June 27, under the theme “Van Giant Screen Live and Loud,” creating a communal space for football fans to cheer on the Black Stars.
Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Safo Nketia, said the initiative is intended to strengthen social cohesion by bringing residents together to support the national team with one voice.
He noted that sports continue to serve as a powerful platform for promoting patriotism, unity and community engagement, adding that the Assembly remains committed to organising activities that encourage social interaction and collective participation.
“The giant screen viewing is intended to bring the people of Krachi East together to support the Black Stars with one voice and demonstrate our collective patriotism,” he said.
The public viewing event is scheduled to commence at 8:30 p.m., with residents encouraged to attend dressed in Ghana’s national colours—red, yellow, green and black—to show solidarity with the Black Stars.
The Assembly has assured participants that adequate security arrangements have been made to ensure a safe and peaceful event. The Ghana Police Service in the municipality will provide security before, during and after the match.
The initiative forms part of similar activities being organised by Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country to provide safe public spaces for football fans while rallying nationwide support for Ghana’s World Cup campaign.
