A uniquely Ghanaian board game, Kizzo, is reshaping how learners from basic to tertiary levels discover their passions, strengths, and potential career paths—bridging education and self-discovery through play.
Invented by Mr. Daniel Asiedu, a licensed counselor and talent consultant, the two-legged game combines fun with functionality and has been officially approved by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCa) as a learning aid for basic schools.
Kizzo is played by two to five participants using marbles, dice, and a creatively designed board featuring 17 academic subjects and 45 professions. Crafted with local materials—wood, plastic, and velvet—the game board folds out with horizontal and vertical pathways in colorful designs, echoing popular games like Ludo while offering far more than entertainment.
“Each of us is born with a unique talent—our life assignment—and Kizzo is a tool to help individuals identify and nurture that gift early, especially children,” Mr. Asiedu told the Ghana News Agency in an interview.
The game leverages what Mr. Asiedu calls the four powerful forces within every person: interest, passion, flair, and hobby. These components guide players through self-assessment as they interact with the game, making it not just a pastime but a practical career guidance tool.
Though launched five years ago, Kizzo is currently gaining renewed attention in Ghana’s educational landscape. Mr. Asiedu, who also leads the Realms of Destiny Ministry International Church and is an accomplished author, announced plans to re-launch the game in targeted schools and institutions nationwide.
“Kizzo reduces the stress students often face when making career choices,” he said, adding that the game has proven helpful in helping young people align their natural gifts with academic and professional opportunities.
Mr. Asiedu emphasized that society flourishes when people discover and use their God-given talents. “Everybody is a genius—if only we can discover, develop, and commercialize our natural abilities,” he stated.
He called on educators, institutions, and parents to consider adopting Kizzo for talent discovery, noting that sample copies are available at the Methodist Book Depot.
By offering a fusion of education, entertainment, and personal development, Kizzo is not only redefining learning in Ghana but also nurturing a generation with a clearer sense of purpose and direction.
