In a move that finalizes all District Chief Executive (DCE) appointments across Ghana, President John Dramani Mahama has nominated two individuals for key leadership roles in the Ashanti Region.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, the nominations comply with constitutional and legislative provisions, including Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) (as amended).
The nominees—Mr. Ibrahim Issahaq for Atwima Mponua District Assembly and Mr. Yakubu Issifu for Asante Mampong Municipal Assembly—are now awaiting approval by their respective District Assemblies.
With these nominations, the government signals its commitment to strengthening local governance and accelerating development efforts across the regions. The appointment process is expected to boost administrative effectiveness at the district level as the appointees prepare to take on their new responsibilities.
