The announcement, made on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, is in line with Article 243 (1) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution and Section 20 (1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936). It signals the President’s drive to bolster district-level leadership and deepen democratic participation.
The list, released by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, features professionals from various walks of life, showcasing a mix of experience and local representation. Among the prominent nominees are Kate Mawusi Babanawo for Kwahu Afram Plains North, Moses Tangmee for Kwahu Afram Plains South, and Ernest Owusu Ntim for Atiwa East.
All 33 nominees are expected to face confirmation processes by their respective District Assemblies in the coming weeks.
