President John Dramani Mahama has concluded a five-day visit to the United Kingdom with a strong focus on attracting investment, strengthening trade ties, and deepening diplomatic relations between Ghana and the UK.
The visit culminated in a courtesy call on King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, where the two leaders held a private meeting. The engagement marked the final major event of a trip that combined high-level diplomacy with economic promotion.
A key outcome of the visit was the launch of a UK-Ghana Growth Partnership, a framework expected to guide cooperation between the two countries from 2026 to 2028. The partnership includes investment and commercial agreements valued at up to £215 million, aimed at supporting business growth and economic development.
President Mahama also held bilateral discussions with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street, where both sides explored opportunities to expand economic cooperation and strengthen longstanding ties between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
As part of efforts to position Ghana as a preferred investment destination, the President opened the Ghana-UK Investment Summit and engaged international investors on opportunities in key sectors of the economy.
He further showcased Ghana’s economic prospects at the London Stock Exchange, where he presided over the Market Open ceremony and highlighted the country’s improving macroeconomic indicators and capital market performance.
At the 2026 Africa Debate held at Guildhall in London, President Mahama presented Ghana as a model of democratic resilience and economic transformation, while outlining the country’s strategic priorities in an evolving global landscape.
The President also addressed policy experts and business leaders at Chatham House, where he advocated reforms to create a more inclusive and representative international order.
Beyond official engagements, he met members of the Ghanaian diaspora during a town hall meeting and visited Ghanaian-owned businesses in Tottenham, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and engaging Ghanaians abroad in national development.
Following the conclusion of the UK visit, President Mahama departed for Belarus on a state visit as part of ongoing efforts to expand Ghana’s international partnerships and economic opportunities.
