President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to deepening strategic ties with Germany, emphasising transparency, credible governance, and investor protection as key foundations for future bilateral collaboration.
Addressing members of the diplomatic corps and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier — who began a three-day state visit to Ghana on Tuesday, November 3, 2025 — President Mahama praised the longstanding partnership between the two nations and outlined Ghana’s vision for a renewed era of cooperation in trade, technology, energy, and security.
President Mahama noted that Ghana’s renewed emphasis on accountability and fiscal discipline is not only stabilizing the domestic economy but also positioning the country as a reliable partner for international development initiatives.
“Our reforms are not merely economic directives — they reflect our determination to build institutions that are transparent, credible, and investor-friendly,” he stated. “A strong governance culture is vital to securing the confidence of our international partners and delivering prosperity for our people.”
Highlighting macroeconomic improvements, the President said that Ghana’s currency had strengthened significantly, inflation had dropped from 23% in late 2024 to single digits by September 2025, and growth momentum had accelerated. These improvements, he stressed, create new room for deeper economic ties, particularly with Germany, one of Ghana’s key European partners in trade and renewable energy development.
President Steinmeier’s visit, which includes engagements with business leaders, renewable-energy firms, and security officials, is expected to strengthen cooperation in green technology, vocational training, and investment promotion.
Analysts say the visit underscores Ghana’s strategic importance in regional stability and economic leadership in West Africa — and positions Ghana as a pivotal partner for Europe’s engagement with the continent.
President Mahama concluded by assuring Germany and the wider diplomatic community that Ghana is strengthening governance systems to ensure foreign investment translates into sustainable jobs and long-term development.
“Ghana is building a resilient, diversified, and accountable economy — one that is open for fair and transparent partnerships,” he said.
