Former Deputy Energy Minister, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has criticised the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the latest petroleum price hikes, highlighting what he describes as contradictions in the party’s previous statements on global economic pressures.
Speaking on Western Diamonds TV, Mercer argued that the NDC had previously dismissed the impact of international events, including the Russia–Ukraine conflict, on Ghana’s economy. He said the party “lied their way into power” by claiming external factors were irrelevant, despite the country facing high inflation, a weakening cedi, and rising living costs.
