Tottenham Hotspur are set to receive a major boost ahead of the new season, with Ghana international Mohammed Kudus nearing a return to full fitness after months on the sidelines.
Manager Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that the midfielder is expected to resume training with the first team once Spurs return to London from their pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand.
“Kudus is very close. I think when we come back to London he will be available to start working with us,” the Italian coach said ahead of Tottenham’s friendly against Auckland FC.
The 25-year-old has been out of action since sustaining a quadriceps injury during Tottenham’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Sunderland in January.
The injury initially ruled him out for the remainder of the season, and although he made encouraging progress during rehabilitation, a setback delayed his recovery even further.
As a result, Kudus missed Tottenham’s final seven Premier League matches and was also unavailable for Ghana’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
De Zerbi welcomed the midfielder’s impending return, describing him as a key member of the squad as Tottenham prepare for the new campaign.
“It’s a great thing for us. Kudus is another important player,” he said.
Kudus’ return is expected to strengthen Tottenham’s attacking options after a difficult season in which injuries disrupted the squad.
The former West Ham United star will now be hoping to complete his recovery and regain full match fitness in time for the start of the Premier League season, while also boosting his prospects of returning to international duty with the Black Stars.
