Nana Akomea, Vice Chairman of the 2024 Bawumia Campaign Team, has dismissed reports suggesting former President John Agyekum Kufuor has been sidelined from critical decision-making within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
During an interview on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Thursday, July 17, Akomea affirmed that it is highly unlikely for President Kufuor to be excluded from meetings of key party organs, given his active membership across all national decision-making bodies, including the influential Steering Committee.
He further explained that President Kufuor has appointed two trusted aides in his office to handle all official invitations, ensuring he remains well-informed and engaged.
Akomea suggested that any complaints attributed to Kufuor regarding meeting invitations may be misplaced, emphasizing, “I do not think that the complaint I have heard President Kufuor made has to do with his invitations to the meetings.”
Addressing recent party meetings, Akomea noted that while Kufuor was absent from the latest gatherings of the National Executive Committee and the National Council, other senior party figures, including President Akufo-Addo and former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, were in attendance.
His comments aim to clarify the former president’s standing within the NPP and reaffirm his continued inclusion in the party’s strategic processes.
