Dr. Mohammed Sheriff Abdul Haliq, Member of Parliament for Nanton Constituency, has taken a major step to enhance healthcare delivery in his community by donating a range of essential medical equipment to the Nanton District Health Directorate.
The donated items include adult and infant weighing scales, delivery beds, radiant warmers, hospital beds, emergency resuscitation trolleys, examination lamps, and digital thermometers — all aimed at improving patient care and supporting health workers in the constituency.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Dr. Haliq emphasized that the donation reflects his ongoing commitment to strengthening health services and aligns with the National Democratic Congress’ manifesto and President John Mahama’s pledge to prioritize citizens’ wellbeing. He highlighted the government’s recent policy to remove the cap on the National Health Insurance Levy to ensure steady funding for healthcare.
Looking ahead, the MP revealed plans to collaborate with the Nanton District Assembly to upgrade certain health centres to clinics, enabling more complex treatments locally and reducing the need for patients to travel long distances.
Nanton District Director of Health, Dr. Sheba Kunfah, welcomed the donation, assuring it would be effectively deployed to improve health outcomes. She also called for further support, especially to bolster outreach services to remote areas, noting the current limited mobility resources for health workers.
Dr. Haliq’s initiative marks a promising boost to healthcare infrastructure and service delivery in Nanton, signaling a stronger focus on accessible and quality medical care in the constituency.
