President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed the significance of the National Economic Dialogue, stressing that it is not merely a symbolic exercise but a critical step toward resetting Ghana’s economy and restoring public confidence.
Speaking at the opening session of the Dialogue on Monday, March 3, President Mahama emphasized the need for solution-driven discussions to address the nation’s economic challenges and explore new opportunities.
“This gathering is more than just a symbolic exercise or the fulfilment of a campaign promise,” he stated. “It is a decisive step in our collective responsibility to reset Ghana’s economy, restore confidence, and build the prosperous future we all envision.”
The President highlighted the importance of making the right economic choices at this pivotal moment, noting that the decisions taken now will shape the country’s financial trajectory for future generations.
“As President, I have the honour of leading the conversation on the theme, ‘Resetting Ghana: Building the Economy We Want Together,’” he noted. “This theme reflects our shared commitment to creating an economy that is resilient, inclusive, and built on sustainable growth.”
President Mahama called on all stakeholders—government officials, economic experts, business leaders, and civil society groups—to contribute their ideas and efforts toward achieving a strong and stable economy.
“It is an invitation to all stakeholders to contribute their ideas and dedication to this national effort,” he concluded.
The National Economic Dialogue is expected to set the foundation for policy decisions that will drive Ghana’s economic recovery and long-term prosperity.
