NDC Delegates Must Prioritise Members’ Welfare Over Appointment Promises – Jantuah Dadson

Ghanaian development economist and National Democratic Congress (NDC) political figure PV Jantuah Dadson has called on party delegates to reject appointment promises as the basis for choosing leaders, insisting that competence, innovation and commitment to members’ welfare must take precedence.

He argued that the party’s leadership elections should be driven by the ability of aspirants to address the challenges confronting members and deliver practical economic benefits rather than expectations of political rewards.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Angel FM, in comments monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Mr Dadson said delegates must assess candidates based on their capacity to introduce innovative ideas, strengthen the party and improve the livelihoods of its members.

He maintained that the NDC needed leaders who could identify the everyday difficulties facing party supporters and develop workable solutions to address them.

“They should vote for people who will come and address challenges. They should have the ability to introduce new things,” he said.

Call for economic benefits beyond political victories

Mr Dadson also challenged the NDC to translate its political and social achievements into measurable economic gains for its members and the wider Ghanaian population.

He argued that while political ideologies remained important to the party’s identity, leadership should focus on policies and initiatives that improve living standards and create opportunities for supporters.

“We need to move beyond the political ideologies that bind us as NDC and transfer the social and political gains into economic benefits for our people,” he stated.

His remarks highlight the need for the party to connect its political successes with tangible improvements in the economic circumstances of its grassroots membership.

Competence key to party leadership

According to Mr Dadson, the selection of party leaders should be based on their ability to promote growth, strengthen the NDC’s organisational structures and improve the welfare of members.

He called for astute individuals with strong leadership qualities who could contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development while ensuring that opportunities generated through the party’s activities also benefit its supporters.

His position suggests that the NDC’s leadership contests should focus less on promises of appointments and more on candidates’ capacity to deliver results.

Mr Dadson’s appeal comes amid continuing discussions about leadership, internal party organisation and the expectations of grassroots supporters, with his message centring on competence, accountability and economic empowerment as key considerations for delegates.
