A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Joshua Akuu, has called on the party’s national leadership to maintain close ties with its grassroots base as it prepares for future electoral contests.
Speaking in Bolgatanga, Dr Akuu—who serves as the party’s organizer for the Western Sydney and New Zealand chapters—emphasized the need for continuous engagement with supporters who played a key role in securing the party’s victory in the 2024 general elections.
He stressed that sustaining grassroots confidence would be crucial for the party’s prospects in the 2028 polls, urging leaders to remain accessible and responsive to the concerns of ordinary members.
Dr Akuu also expressed confidence in the leadership of John Dramani Mahama, praising his handling of the economy and stating that the administration had restored stability and improved Ghana’s standing both domestically and internationally.
According to him, continued delivery on campaign promises would position the party strongly for another electoral win.
Beyond party politics, Dr Akuu highlighted the broader issue of unemployment, noting that job creation remains a critical concern for many Ghanaians, particularly the youth. He linked the challenge to rising social issues and called for expanded economic opportunities.
He further advocated stronger collaboration between government and the private sector, arguing that sustainable job creation would require active participation from businesses alongside public sector initiatives.
Dr Akuu maintained that empowering the private sector through targeted support would not only boost economic growth but also provide meaningful employment opportunities, helping to address some of the country’s pressing social and economic challenges.
