The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially launched its 2026 internal election process, with constituency executive elections scheduled for October and national executive nominations set to begin later the same month.
The party announced the timetable after the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) directed the commencement of elections to choose new constituency, regional and national executives.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 5, the NDC said the timetable provides a structured roadmap for the entire electoral process, including nominations, vetting, appeals, balloting and elections at all levels of the party.
The constituency executive election process will begin with the opening of nominations on Tuesday, September 15, at 7:00 a.m., with applications closing on Thursday, September 17, at 5:00 p.m.
Prospective aspirants will be required to apply through the party’s online portal and complete their nomination forms, including endorsement requirements, within seven days.
Filing of constituency nominations has been scheduled for September 23 and 24, while vetting will take place from September 25 to 27.
The party has also scheduled an appeals period from September 29 to October 1 before constituency executive elections are held on October 24 and 25 across the country.
For the national executive elections, nominations will open on October 20 and close on October 21, with aspirants expected to submit applications through the same online platform.
National executive aspirants will have 14 days to complete their nomination forms before filing nominations from November 7 to 9.
Vetting for national executive positions will be conducted at the party’s national headquarters from November 12 to 13.
The NDC said the timetable was designed to ensure transparent, credible and orderly elections in accordance with the party’s constitution and approved electoral guidelines.
It urged regional and constituency executives, aspirants and members to adhere strictly to all timelines and procedures outlined in the schedule.
According to the party, compliance with the timetable will be essential to ensuring a smooth electoral process as it reorganises ahead of the 2028 general election.
The NDC also expressed confidence that the unity demonstrated during its ongoing reorganisation would strengthen the party’s preparations for the next national polls.
