At a ceremony on Wednesday, Trade Minister Elizabeth Ofosu‑Adjare inaugurated boards for GEXIM, GIPC, and GSA, tasking each with bolstering Ghana’s role in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Ofosu‑Adjare emphasized that harmonizing standards through GSA is essential for seamless intra‑African trade and urged swift action against substandard imports to protect consumers. She also called on GIPC to refine the investment law, making Ghana more attractive for high‑quality foreign and domestic investors.
For GEXIM, the directive was to tailor financing toward value‑addition sectors—agriculture (rice and poultry), apparel, food production, import substitution, and export promotion—aligning with the government’s 24‑hour economy vision. Dr. Joseph Nyakotey Dorh, GEXIM’s board chair, underscored these priorities as the bank’s blueprint.
Board members across all three institutions pledged to work collaboratively, leveraging their diverse expertise—from banking and standardization to market associations—to transform Ghana into a competitive AfCFTA hub.
