The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ayawaso East Constituency has elected new executives with a commitment to rebuild party structures, promote reconciliation and strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections.
The constituency executive elections, which attracted strong participation from delegates, saw competitive contests for several key positions as party members voted to select leaders to steer its affairs for the next term.
Following his election, Secretary-Elect Mr. Daniel Danquah urged party members to put aside differences arising from the contest and unite behind the new leadership to advance the party’s interests.
He said the new executives would prioritise reconciliation, teamwork and strengthening the party’s base across the constituency.
In the Deputy General Secretary race, Mr. Samuel Kojo emerged victorious after securing 556 votes to beat Mr. Khaorudeen Yahaya, who obtained 290 votes.
Mr. Danquah won the Secretary position with 514 votes, ahead of Mr. Mohammed Sharif, who polled 279 votes, and Mr. Abdallah Swalah, who secured 38 votes.
The Organiser position went to Mr. Awudu Iddrisu, who received 461 votes, defeating Mr. Emmanuel Asante, who obtained 386 votes.
In the Women Organiser contest, Hajia Ayisha won with 398 votes, narrowly beating the incumbent Madam Jenniffer, who secured 383 votes, while Hajia Maama received 63 votes.
Mr. Mustapha Abubakar was elected Nasara Coordinator after polling 359 votes, followed by Mr. Marzuk Osman with 251 votes and Madam Sarah Yakubu with 227 votes.
The Communications Officer position was closely contested, with Mr. Abdullahi Ali winning by 424 votes against Mr. Yussif Adamu, who polled 419 votes.
Addressing party members after the elections, Mr. Danquah said unity would be central to the work of the new executives, stressing that internal cohesion was necessary for the party’s future success.
He rejected claims that some candidates were backed by potential parliamentary aspirants, insisting that his victory was based on his vision, commitment and support from party members.
“I contested the election independently and received support from party faithful based on my vision and commitment to service,” he said.
Mr. Danquah disclosed that engagements had already begun with the Chairman-Elect to launch a reconciliation process aimed at healing any divisions that may have emerged during the campaign.
He said the constituency had experienced renewed energy among members and expressed confidence that the new leadership would use the momentum to strengthen the party’s structures at the grassroots level.
According to him, a united and organised party would be better positioned to compete effectively in future electoral contests, including the 2028 general election.
