The much-anticipated findings from the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) internal probe into its 2024 electoral defeat remain shrouded in secrecy as the chairman of the investigative committee, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, opted for silence after officially handing over the report to party leadership.
During a closed-door meeting at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on Wednesday, April 16, Prof. Oquaye, a respected statesman and former Speaker of Parliament, presented the final report on behalf of the 12-member committee tasked with diagnosing the party’s loss in the general elections.
However, despite the media’s presence and several attempts by JoyNews reporter Kenneth Gyasi to engage him, Prof. Oquaye declined to offer any comment—neither confirming the report’s key conclusions nor addressing related political developments, including recent remarks from former Dome Kwabenya MP, Adwoa Safo.
His refusal to speak has only deepened public curiosity and internal speculation about what the report reveals—particularly whether it names specific individuals, strategic missteps, or policy decisions that contributed to the party’s electoral misfortunes.
The NPP leadership, too, has remained tight-lipped, offering no timeline for when, or if, the contents of the report will be made public.
The committee was formed earlier this year with the mandate to conduct a comprehensive review of the party’s campaign, messaging, voter engagement, and organizational weaknesses during the 2024 elections. As grassroots members and political observers await answers, the silence from the top has only added to mounting pressure for transparency and accountability within the party.
