Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has called for immediate action following shocking allegations of financial mismanagement at the National Security Secretariat.
His demand for an in-depth investigation stems from claims made by Kwabena Adu-Boahene, a former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, who exposed a series of suspicious fund allocations through a leaked memo.
A social media post by Rev. Ntim Fordjour on May 7, 2025, underscored the gravity of the situation, which he described as “shocking” and “scary.”
According to the leaked memo, significant public funds meant for national security operations were allegedly diverted to political campaigns and parliamentary committees, a move Fordjour termed as a “major national security scandal.”
The memo includes claims of GH¢8.3 million being funneled into the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign during the 2024 election period, GH¢960,000 allocated to the Defence and Interior Committee in 2020/21 to support legislative efforts, GH¢309,000 disbursed to the Subsidiary Legislation Committee in 2024 for passing a Legislative Instrument, and GH¢5.135 million used for special aides to then-President Mahama in December 2024.
Fordjour has strongly called for transparency, emphasizing that the taxpayers of Ghana deserve to know the truth.
“This must not be politics as usual,” he stated. He urged the Inspector-General of Police, the Auditor-General, and other parliamentary oversight bodies to launch an immediate, independent investigation to uncover the full details of these allegations and ensure accountability.
Highlighting the importance of restoring public trust in national security institutions, Fordjour reiterated that only a transparent probe will begin to repair the damage caused by these grave accusations. His call for a thorough investigation continues to gain momentum, with many demanding clarity on the use of public funds in these sensitive areas.
