Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Big Issue on Saturday, October 10, Okoe Boye suggested that the handling of the case raised concerns about individual liberties and whether some officials were attempting to demonstrate their authority.
He questioned why Baffoe, who was previously denied bail by the High Court, was later granted bail by the Adenta Circuit Court, with her next court appearance scheduled for February 2027.
“If someone is a threat to the state, how do you let her walk around between now and February 2027?” he asked, insisting that the protection of individual liberty should remain a priority regardless of which party is in power.
Baffoe was granted GH¢100,000 bail on October 5 after the prosecution did not oppose her application. She is required to report to the police every two weeks, and the case has been adjourned to February 17, 2027.
The High Court had earlier refused bail over concerns that her release could interfere with ongoing investigations involving cyber-related evidence.
Baffoe is accused of abetting the publication of false news in connection with content linked to the TikTok account known as Ghana Jollof. Okoe Boye has urged those involved in her arrest and detention to apologise to her.
