A major health intervention spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for Krachi East, Mr. Nelson Kofi Djabab, has brought vital kidney and general health screening services to over 2,000 residents of Dambai.
Held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the Dambai market square, the initiative targeted early detection and prevention of kidney-related ailments and other non-communicable diseases among constituents, particularly young people.
The event was organised in partnership with the Rebecca Health Outreach Programme under the Renes Sanae Foundation, with support from the Krachi East Municipal Health Directorate. Medical professionals conducted screenings for kidney function, diabetes, hepatitis B, malaria, blood pressure, and hypertension.
Mr. Djabab, speaking to the Ghana News Agency, highlighted the importance of proactive healthcare and regular checkups to curb preventable diseases. He explained that the initiative was designed to give people access to essential diagnostic services, detect early symptoms, and facilitate timely treatment.
He pledged to replicate the exercise every four months, reinforcing his commitment to community health and preventive care.
Mr. Samuel Berchie of Avmarg Solution, also a member of the Renes Sanae Foundation, reiterated the foundation’s dedication to sustaining such outreach programmes in the area. He affirmed their continued support in ensuring Krachi East residents stay informed and protected against common health threats.
Krachi East Municipal Health Director, Mr. Abdul-Muttalib Amin, lauded the MP’s health initiative and other contributions, including recent laptop donations to support health administration in the district. He urged the public to adopt healthier lifestyles, including exercising and eating right, while making use of available health facilities.
Grateful beneficiaries, including Madam Josephine Abena Amanquah, expressed appreciation for the initiative, citing the life-changing benefits of early detection and access to medical care. Many pledged to take their health more seriously following the exercise.
