Ghana’s Parliament will reconvene on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, marking the official start of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic, following an earlier postponement of its planned resumption.
The confirmation came through a formal statement from the Office of the Speaker, signed by Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, and released on October 8, 2025.
According to the notice, proceedings are scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM at Parliament House in Accra. The new date replaces the previously announced opening, which had been deferred in an earlier circular issued on October 6, 2025.
Although no specific reasons were stated for the brief postponement, sources within Parliament indicate that the delay was to allow additional consultations and preparation for key legislative business expected to dominate the upcoming session.
The Third Meeting is expected to focus on critical national issues, including the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, as well as several bills and motions carried over from the previous sitting.
Speaker Bagbin’s announcement effectively sets the stage for what political watchers anticipate will be one of the most consequential meetings of the current parliamentary session, as both sides of the House prepare for heated debates ahead of the 2026 election year.
