The Paramount Chief of the Suma Traditional Area in the Bono Region, Odeneho Dr Affram Obrempong III, has praised President John Dramani Mahama for what he describes as visible infrastructure and socio-economic progress in the region, while urging government to accelerate development in underserved communities.
Speaking at the “Accounting to the People” forum at Suma-Ahenkro in the Jaman North District, the chief said the administration had made significant strides within its first year in office through road projects and key social interventions.
He noted that communities in the region were already witnessing improvements, citing progress on road construction projects as well as the sod-cutting of major initiatives such as the 24-hour market and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.
According to him, the projects demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving livelihoods and expanding access to critical services.
“We have witnessed what the government has done within just one year and a few months. The results are beginning to show across communities,” he stated.
Odeneho Dr Obrempong III, who also serves on the Council of State, stressed that every government is elected to solve problems and improve the welfare of citizens, adding that the current administration appears focused on that mandate.
While commending government efforts, he appealed to the Jaman North District Assembly and the Member of Parliament for Jaman North, Mr Frederick Yaw Ahenkwah, to prioritise extending telecommunications services to deprived communities and addressing infrastructure deficits.
He also urged government to ensure the timely release of the District Assemblies Common Fund to enable local assemblies undertake more development projects.
The Bono Regional Minister, Mr Joseph Addae Akwaboa, led the accountability forum, which forms part of government’s broader push for transparency and citizen engagement.
Meanwhile, Jaman North District Chief Executive, Mr George Adane, said the assembly had delivered impactful projects that were visible across communities.
He pointed to the ongoing Jinijini-Sampa Road project, plans for a cashew processing factory, and the proposed upgrade of the Sampa Government Hospital as evidence of government’s continued commitment to development.
