The Sunyani Traditional Council has moved to restore full functionality to its leadership structure following the reinstatement of its Krontrihene, Oboaman Bofotia Boa-Amponsem II.
In a directive issued by Nana Akosua Dua Asor Sika Brayie II, the Paramount Queen Mother of the Sunyani Traditional Area, the earlier suspension placed on the sub-chief has been officially revoked, allowing him to resume his customary duties with immediate effect.
The decision marks a significant step toward consolidating traditional governance in the area, with the Queen Mother indicating that the conditions which necessitated the sanctions have now been resolved.
Restoring Stability in Traditional Leadership
The suspension, initially imposed in March 2024, was aimed at restoring order and discipline within the traditional setup. However, according to the latest communication, the situation has since stabilised, paving the way for the Krontrihene’s return.
The Queen Mother emphasised that the role of the Krontrihene is indispensable to the effective functioning of the council, noting that the traditional leadership structure cannot operate optimally without the position being actively occupied.
Key Role of the Krontri Stool
The Krontri stool plays a central role in customary administration and decision-making within the traditional area, serving as a key pillar in the council’s hierarchy.
With the lifting of the sanctions, Oboaman Bofotia Boa-Amponsem II is now expected to fully participate in council activities, including attending meetings and contributing to governance within the traditional jurisdiction.
Path Toward Unity
The move is widely seen as an effort to promote unity and cohesion among traditional authorities in Sunyani, ensuring that leadership structures remain intact and responsive to the needs of the community.
Observers say the reinstatement signals a renewed commitment to collaboration and stability within the Sunyani Traditional Council as it continues to play its role in local governance and cultural preservation.
