Accra is witnessing heightened tension at the offices of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) following a coordinated operation by security agents from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). In a court-ordered raid supported by the National Security Secretariat, three directors of SML were taken into custody amid an intensified probe into the controversial contract awarded to the company.
The investigation, now in its advanced stages, reportedly focuses on retrieving critical electronic data from SML’s servers, with simultaneous searches underway at the company’s Osu and Tema offices in Accra.
This crackdown forms part of a broader campaign by the OSP to unravel suspected corruption linked to the SML contract — a probe that has also entangled former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. Efforts to question Ofori-Atta over transactions related to the contract have hit a stalemate, culminating in the Special Prosecutor designating him a fugitive from justice.
The unfolding events underscore the government’s increasing resolve to confront alleged corruption at high levels, signaling a no-nonsense approach to accountability and transparency.
As the investigation progresses, public attention remains riveted on how these developments will impact ongoing anti-corruption efforts and governance reforms in Ghana.
