Vice President Professor Jane Opoku-Agyemang on Monday presided over the 47th ceremonial Change of Guards Parade at the Presidency in Accra, marking another formal rotation of security duties among the branches of the Ghana Armed Forces.
During the ceremony, the Ghana Air Force officially handed over responsibility for presidential security to the Ghana Army, continuing the tradition of inter-service coordination at the seat of government.
This was the second occasion that Vice President Prof. Opoku-Agyemang has reviewed the parade on behalf of the President. The ceremonial Change of Guards was first introduced in 2013 under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama to showcase the coordinated handover of duties between the Army, Air Force, and Navy.
The event attracted government officials and school children from the Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions, providing attendees with a close-up view of military precision and discipline.
The parade highlights the professionalism and readiness of the Ghana Armed Forces, reinforcing the importance of ceremonial traditions in fostering national pride and public engagement with the military.
