Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is expected to return to Ghana soon, following a period of medical care in the United Kingdom, President John Dramani Mahama has announced.
Addressing a crowd at a durbar held at the Old Ghanata Astroturf in Dodowa as part of his ongoing ‘Thank You Tour’ on Friday, May 16, Mahama provided an encouraging update on the Vice President’s health, assuring Ghanaians of her recovery.
“I bring you greetings from H.E. the Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang. I had a conversation with her on Thursday, and I’m pleased to report that she’s fully recovered and will be returning to the country before the end of next week,” Mahama stated.
The Vice President’s temporary absence had sparked concerns among some sections of the public, but Mahama’s remarks appeared to ease those worries, reaffirming that she is ready to resume her official duties.
Opoku-Agyemang, a respected academic and former Minister of Education, has been a vital part of Mahama’s administration, playing a critical role in the government’s educational and social policy reforms.
As the nation awaits her return, Mahama’s message underscored the Vice President’s resilience and the government’s continued stability amid her brief medical leave.
