Jerry Ahmed Shaib, Member of Parliament for Weija Gbawe, has called on Ghanaian youth to stop relying on unfulfilled political promises, highlighting the government’s failure to deliver on key election pledges.
Speaking on Accra-based Movement TV, Mr Shaib pointed to the unimplemented 24-hour economy, a promise made to create jobs and stimulate opportunities for young people. “They promised the youth that they would be introducing a 24-hour economy, but that has not been the case after they got power. Now they say Ghanaian youth should go and sell indomie,” he said.
The MP also expressed concern about the marginalization of the parliamentary minority, claiming that opposition members are not sufficiently briefed on presidential policies or movements. He argued that this lack of inclusion undermines democratic governance and accountability.
Mr Shaib’s remarks underscore growing frustration among young Ghanaians over the gap between political promises and tangible opportunities, emphasizing the need for real action and engagement rather than rhetoric.
