The family of Ghana’s first President, Kwame Nkrumah, has honoured the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, for his continuous efforts to preserve and promote the legacy of the country’s founding leader.
The Nvavile family at Nkroful, the birthplace of Nkrumah in the Western Region, presented a citation, traditional cloth and a ram to the MP during a courtesy call at the AYA Community Centre in Ampain.
Led by the head of the Nkrumah family, Adwobia Kpanyinli, the delegation commended Mr Buah for championing initiatives that highlight the historical significance of their relative and Ghana’s first President.
According to the family, Mr Buah’s dedication has contributed significantly to transforming the Kwame Nkrumah Museum, Nkroful into a modern tourist attraction that continues to draw visitors interested in the life and achievements of the independence leader.
They said the gesture was meant not only to appreciate his contributions but also to encourage him to continue promoting the ideals and vision of Nkrumah, whose leadership played a key role in Ghana’s development and the broader African liberation struggle.
Responding to the honour, Mr Buah reaffirmed his commitment to educating younger generations about Nkrumah’s legacy and ensuring that his contributions to national development remain widely recognised.
The Ellembelle MP has been instrumental in organising the annual Nkrumah Festival, popularly known as NkrumahFest, held every September 21 to mark the birthday of the late statesman.
He has also supported renovation works at the museum and mausoleum in Nkroful and has used parliamentary platforms to highlight the transformational policies introduced by Nkrumah, including industrialisation, job creation and infrastructure development.
