John Dramani Mahama has outlined a series of development initiatives for the Savannah Region, using the platform of the Gonjaland Youth Association’s 50th anniversary celebration to highlight government priorities.
Speaking at the event in Buipe, the President placed strong emphasis on education as a driver of transformation, announcing plans to establish new STEM schools in Tinga and Busunu, while expanding infrastructure across senior high schools.
He also revealed intentions to upgrade selected Category B schools to Category A status, a move aimed at improving access to quality education in the region.
Beyond education, President Mahama disclosed plans to construct a modern sports stadium to boost youth development and recreation, as well as introduce 24-hour markets in every district to stimulate economic activity.
The proposed markets, he said, would create jobs, support small businesses, and enhance opportunities for young people across the region.
The anniversary celebration provided a platform for the President to reaffirm government’s commitment to inclusive development, with a focus on education, youth empowerment, and economic growth.
