The newly elected Bono Regional Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajia Samira Sulley, has called for unity among party supporters as the party begins preparations to reclaim political power in the 2028 general elections.
She said the NPP’s ability to improve its electoral fortunes in the region would depend largely on the willingness of members, particularly women, to put aside internal differences and work towards rebuilding the party’s grassroots structures.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Hajia Sulley said although the task of returning the NPP to power would be challenging, a united and focused party could defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2028.
She appealed to all candidates who contested the recent Bono Regional Executive Elections and their supporters to accept the outcome, bury their differences and join efforts to strengthen the party ahead of the next general elections.
Hajia Sulley described her election as a victory for the entire NPP in the region and urged women across the party to support her efforts to restructure and reposition the women’s wing.
She pledged to operate an open-door administration that would welcome ideas and concerns from members while creating a stronger and more responsive women’s front.
According to her, women remained central to the political mobilisation and administration of the NPP and would be instrumental in the party’s efforts to regain lost parliamentary seats in the Bono Region.
She therefore called on the women’s wing to identify challenges affecting the party at the grassroots and develop practical strategies to address them.
Hajia Sulley further stressed the need for party women to unite behind the NPP’s 2028 flagbearer, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and actively promote his vision to voters across the region.
She said she was prepared to work tirelessly to help the party reclaim all the parliamentary seats it lost in the Bono Region.
“Now our main vision is to ensure that Alhaji Bawumia wins the 2028 General Election with a wider margin, and we can do that if we come together as women with a common goal,” she said.
She expressed appreciation to delegates and party members for their support and called on the entire regional party structure to begin a new chapter of cooperation and collective action ahead of Election 2028.
