The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has adjusted its timetable for the 2026 National Officers Elections, giving aspirants two additional days to complete and submit their nomination documents.
The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) announced that the filing of completed nomination forms, originally scheduled to end on Thursday, August 27, will now close on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
The Committee said the decision followed the high level of interest in the upcoming national elections, with 44 aspirants having picked up nomination forms as of Thursday, August 20.
In a statement issued on Friday, August 21, the NOEC explained that the extension was intended to provide aspirants with sufficient time to complete the filing process and allow for proper verification of their documents.
“The Committee considers it prudent to provide the additional time to facilitate an orderly filing process and to ensure that each aspirant is afforded adequate opportunity for the submission and verification of his or her nomination documents,” it said.
Despite the adjustment, the Committee stressed that the extension would not affect the subsequent stages of the electoral process.
Vetting of aspirants will begin as scheduled on Monday, August 31, and end on Thursday, September 3.
The revised electoral timetable provides for the opening and closing of nominations from August 17 to 22, followed by the filing of nomination forms from August 23 to 29.
Vetting will take place from August 31 to September 3, with the results expected to be published on September 5.
A two-day appeals window has been scheduled for September 6 and 7, while the National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council (NC) are expected to meet on September 10.
The Notice of Poll will be issued on September 14, ahead of the election of national officers on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
The NOEC reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the elections are conducted in a fair, transparent, orderly and credible manner, with all aspirants given equal opportunity to participate.
It also urged aspirants, their supporters, party members and the media to cooperate with the Committee to ensure a smooth electoral process.
With the new deadline, all aspirants are expected to submit their completed nomination forms by Saturday, August 29, before the vetting process begins two days later.
