The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has temporarily closed the VVIP Lounge at the Kotoka International Airport to undertake renovation works aimed at improving the facility’s standard.
The closure, which took effect on April 3, 2026, is expected to last one week, with reopening scheduled for April 10, 2026.
According to the Ministry, the refurbishment exercise is part of ongoing efforts to modernise key national facilities and enhance service delivery, particularly for high-level dignitaries and official guests who use the lounge.
Officials noted that the upgrades would focus on improving safety, comfort, and overall functionality to meet expected standards for such a high-profile facility.
While acknowledging the temporary inconvenience, the Ministry assured the public of its commitment to maintaining efficient services and delivering improved infrastructure upon completion of the works.
The VVIP Lounge plays a key role in hosting senior government officials, diplomats, and other distinguished travellers passing through the country’s main international gateway.
