Former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo has declared her intention to reclaim the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary ticket in the constituency, signalling a renewed bid to represent the area ahead of the party’s next parliamentary primaries.
Her decision comes after she had previously indicated plans to pursue opportunities beyond Dome-Kwabenya.
In announcing her latest move, Ms Safo said extensive consultations, engagements with party leaders and executives, and personal reflection had informed her decision to contest when nominations open.
“After considerable reflection, extensive consultation and broad based engagement with party leadership and executives,” she said, she had decided to present herself for consideration as the party’s parliamentary candidate.
Ms Safo, who represented Dome-Kwabenya in Parliament for 12 years, said she remained committed to the constituency and believed more work was needed to advance its development.
She described Dome-Kwabenya as her political home and reaffirmed her determination to continue serving its residents.
“Dome-Kwabenya is home. It has always been home. My commitment to its people remains unwavering, and my resolve to serve remains steadfast,” she stated.
Her declaration sets the stage for a potential contest for the NPP parliamentary candidacy in Dome-Kwabenya once the party officially opens nominations.
However, the outcome will depend on the party’s internal selection process and the support she secures among delegates in the constituency.
