Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has maintained that the ongoing dispute surrounding the Kristo Asafo Mission is solely about implementing the final directives of her late father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo, and not a struggle for leadership or inheritance.
In a statement issued on Friday, July 3, 2026, following what she described as an assassination attempt on her life on June 21, Ms Safo said public commentary had distorted the true nature of the disagreement.
She rejected suggestions that she was seeking to become leader of the church or claim ownership of church assets, stressing that she has never pursued personal wealth from her late father’s estate.
According to Ms Safo, she has built her life through integrity, independence and hard work, adding that she has deliberately avoided relying on her father’s properties or inheritance for personal gain.
She explained that the disagreement stems from constitutional amendments introduced by Apostle Kwadwo Safo in 2024, which she said removed Israel Kwadwo Safo from the church’s leadership and resulted in her installation as head of the Kantanka family in February 2025.
Ms Safo said her father specifically instructed her on his deathbed to ensure those constitutional changes were respected, describing it as a responsibility she is determined to fulfil as his first child.
She further dismissed claims that Apostle Kwadwo Safo died without a legal estate plan, insisting that he left behind a valid will outlining how his properties and inheritance should be administered.
According to the former lawmaker, the provisions of the will will take effect after its formal reading and execution.
Ms Safo said her focus remains on securing justice for her late father, preserving the integrity of his legacy and ensuring that his final wishes regarding the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka family are fully respected.
