Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin has called on the Tertiary Students’ Confederacy of the New Patriotic Party (TESCON) to play a central role in repositioning the party for victory in the 2028 general elections.
Addressing TESCON members at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration in Accra, he underscored the importance of energising the youth base as part of the party’s broader rebuilding efforts. He described student activists as key drivers of political messaging and engagement, particularly in an era shaped by fast-moving digital communication.
Afenyo-Markin urged members to champion and communicate the achievements of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration, including policies such as Free SHS, STEM initiatives, and agricultural programmes, as part of efforts to reconnect with voters.
He emphasized that the road to 2028 would depend heavily on how effectively TESCON members adapt to modern political dynamics, mobilise young voters, and counter opposing narratives. “You must innovate, engage, and ensure that your message resonates with the next generation,” he said.
The Effutu MP also stressed unity, discipline, and commitment as critical elements for the party’s resurgence, urging members to work collectively to strengthen grassroots support across campuses nationwide.
The event, which brought together party leaders, current and former Members of Parliament, and student activists, formed part of ongoing efforts to reorganise and energise the NPP’s youth front ahead of the next electoral cycle.
