Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre South, Damata Ama Appianimaa Salam, has declared her support for Odeneho Kwaku Appiah’s bid to become the next Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The MP says her endorsement is rooted in a long-standing political relationship with Mr Appiah, whom she credits with mentoring and helping to advance her career within the party.
Speaking during Mr Appiah’s “Hope Tour” engagement with executives of the Bekwai Constituency on Saturday, July 25, 2026, Madam Salam said the former Afigya Kwabre South constituency chairman recognised her potential at the grassroots level and helped position her for greater responsibilities.
“If I am where I am today it is because of Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah. He identified my potential and guided me to become who I am today,” she said.
She recalled serving as a women organiser and later as constituency secretary under Mr Appiah’s leadership, describing him as a leader who empowered those around him.
Madam Salam also praised his leadership style, describing him as decisive but open to consultation and respectful of the views of others.
According to her, Mr Appiah’s record of working with people across the party makes him the right candidate to lead the Ashanti Regional branch of the NPP.
She therefore called on party delegates across the region to support his candidature in the upcoming regional elections.
“I am pushing for 98% votes for him. And so I urge you all to vote massively for COKA to lead the Ashanti NPP,” she said.
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, previously served as the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency Chairman before announcing his intention to contest the Ashanti Regional chairmanship position.
He has since been touring constituencies across the region as part of efforts to engage party executives and mobilise support ahead of the elections scheduled for August 15, 2026.
