The government has warned that road contracts under the Big Push infrastructure programme are not for sale, with the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, urging the public to report anyone claiming to have access to such contracts.
The Minister issued the warning following reports that some individuals are allegedly offering government road projects for sale under the flagship programme.
In a post on X, Mr. Agbodza stressed that members of the public should not engage with anyone claiming to be selling Big Push contracts and should instead report them to law enforcement authorities.
“BIG PUSH projects NOT FOR SALE. Report ANYONE offering a ‘Big Push project’ for sale to the nearest police station,” he wrote.
The Minister said individuals involved in such activities should be investigated and, where appropriate, prosecuted.
His comments come amid growing concerns about fraudulent claims relating to access to government contracts under the Big Push initiative, which is expected to finance major road infrastructure projects across the country.
Mr. Agbodza reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation of the programme and cautioned contractors, businesses and the general public against falling victim to procurement-related scams.
The Ministry urged anyone with information about alleged attempts to sell Big Push projects to cooperate with the police and other investigative agencies to help protect the integrity of the government’s infrastructure programme.
