The Awutu Beraku District Court has dismissed charges against Cassius Otto Larbie, the NDC Communications Officer, and two associates, effectively ending a year-long legal battle.
Larbie, alongside Robert Tetteh and Bright Ayittey, had been arrested in September 2024 over allegations of defacing posters of NPP Parliamentary Candidate Eugene Arhin. Following initial police remand, the trio was granted GHS 2,000 self-recognisance bail with one surety each.
Presiding Judge Naomi Konto struck out the case after six court appearances and multiple adjournments, bringing closure to the legal proceedings.
Speaking after the ruling, Larbie described the trial as “pure political persecution” and expressed relief at being fully exonerated. He praised the NDC’s recent electoral success, particularly in Awutu Senya West, and pledged to intensify his efforts for the party’s growth.
The verdict highlights ongoing concerns over politically motivated legal actions and marks a significant win for party officials previously caught in election-related disputes.
