Ralph Poku-Adusei, Member of Parliament for Bekwai and prominent criminal lawyer, has formally taken over as defence counsel for former National Service Authority (NSA) Director-General Osei-Assibey Antwi, who faces allegations of causing financial loss to the state.
The change of solicitor was filed at the High Court on February 23, 2026, by Trent Legal Amansie Chambers, with Ralph Poku-Adusei leading a team of six lawyers in representing their new client. The notice was also served on the Attorney General, the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), and Osei-Assibey Antwi’s previous legal team.
Poku-Adusei, renowned for handling high-profile criminal cases—including the cases of Bishop Daniel Obinim and the late Bennet Agyekum Adomah—expressed confidence in his team’s ability to vigorously defend the former NSA chief.
After attending court on Wednesday, February 25, Poku-Adusei noted that the new charge sheet filed by the state increased the number of counts from 14 to 19, while the alleged financial loss was revised downward from GH¢631.63 million to GH¢530.91 million. He emphasized that the prosecution will face a significant challenge proving all elements of the amended charges.
Despite the adjustments, Poku-Adusei said he and his team are fully prepared to ensure Osei-Assibey Antwi is fairly defended and, ultimately, acquitted and discharged of all charges.
The case has been adjourned to Monday, March 9, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., with the trial set to continue at Criminal Court 5.
