An Adenta Circuit Court has granted GH¢400,000 bail to a 53-year-old businessman, Amadou Mohammed, who is facing prosecution for allegedly defrauding a business partner of US$3.5 million.
Mohammed, who has pleaded not guilty to a charge of defrauding by false pretences, was granted bail with two sureties, who must be justified with landed property.
According to the prosecution, the alleged offence occurred in 2022 when Mohammed and the complainant were business partners.
The prosecution told the court that Mohammed allegedly collected US$3.5 million from the complainant under the pretext of facilitating the shipment of an investment fund reportedly valued at US$400 million to Nigeria.
The bail application was filed by counsel for the accused, following which the court granted the terms.
The case has been adjourned to November 24, 2026, for further proceedings.
