Manchester United caretaker head coach Michael Carrick has been shortlisted for the Premier League Manager of the Season award after an impressive spell in charge that has reshaped United’s campaign.
Carrick, who stepped in following the departure of Ruben Amorim in January, is among six nominees recognised for their impact this season. He is joined by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, both of whom are locked in a tight title race.
The shortlist also includes Andoni Iraola, who is leaving Bournemouth after guiding them to the brink of European qualification, Brentford’s Keith Andrews, who has impressed in his debut managerial season, and Sunderland’s Régis Le Bris, who has steered the newly promoted side clear of relegation concerns.
Since taking charge, Carrick has overseen a strong run of form, winning 66.7% of his matches and collecting 33 points—more than any other Premier League side over the same period. His impact has helped Manchester United climb from seventh to third and secure a return to Champions League football.
His performances have sparked discussions within United’s leadership, with reports suggesting he could be recommended for the permanent managerial role following his caretaker success.
In the Player of the Season category, eight stars have been shortlisted, including Arsenal trio David Raya, Gabriel, and Declan Rice, alongside Manchester City forward Erling Haaland and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo.
Other nominees include Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, Brentford striker Igor Thiago, and Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.
The Young Player of the Season shortlist features promising talents such as Kobbie Mainoo of Manchester United, Lewis Hall of Newcastle, West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes, and Brentford defender Michael Kayode. Bournemouth’s Junior Kroupi and Alex Scott, along with Manchester City duo Rayan Cherki and Nico O’Reilly, also feature.
Winners across all categories will be decided through a combination of public voting and assessment by a panel of football experts, with the race expected to go down to the wire as the season concludes.
