Former Electoral Commission Chairperson, Charlotte Osei, is back in public service following her appointment by President John Dramani Mahama to the Board of Directors of the Ghana National Gas Limited Company (GNGLC), in a move that signals a renewed push for high-level expertise and institutional reform in the country’s energy sector.
Ms. Osei joins a diverse nine-member board chaired by veteran politician and public servant Mr. Kofi Totobi Quakyi, with Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay serving as Acting CEO. The board also includes MPs and professionals from across various sectors: Mr. Emmanuel Vincent, Ms. Nasira Afrah Gyekye (MP), Mr. Samuel Kwame Borlu, Awulae Agyefi Kwame II, Mr. Baba Abdul Jamal Adama, and Mr. Blay Nyameke Armah (MP).
The appointments, announced on Wednesday, April 30, are widely viewed as a strategic move by the President to strengthen governance at GNGLC and bring in seasoned voices to steer the state-owned energy giant through operational reforms, industry innovation, and socio-economic alignment.
In a statement, Ghana Gas expressed optimism about the new board’s ability to deliver on its mandate, noting: “We look forward to working with the new Board to enhance the company’s operations, address challenges, ensure quality standards, and foster peaceful coexistence.”
Charlotte Osei’s return to national leadership has sparked fresh interest among governance watchers, many of whom see her experience and integrity as key assets in reshaping public institutions.
