A group of clergy aligned with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the party’s leadership and supporters to put aside internal differences and embark on a path of reconciliation, unity, and renewed commitment as preparations begin for the 2028 general elections.
The Osahen Afenyo-Markin Clergy Prayer Warriors said the NPP’s ability to return to power would depend not only on strong leadership but also on rebuilding trust among party members, strengthening its grassroots structures, and reconnecting with ordinary Ghanaians.
In a pastoral message signed by its Convener, Reverend Father Moses Aaron Kwamina Eduah, the group urged party leaders to demonstrate humility, accountability, discipline, and servant leadership while avoiding unnecessary internal conflicts that could undermine the party’s prospects.
According to the clergy, history has shown that the NPP has achieved its greatest successes when members remained united across regions, generations, and factions. It warned that internal divisions have often created opportunities for political opponents to gain an advantage.
The prayer warriors appealed to party faithful to resist anger, suspicion, and personal attacks, stressing that the future of the NPP is greater than the ambitions or disappointments of any individual.
They also encouraged the leadership to adopt a spirit of reconciliation by listening to concerns from the grassroots, calming tensions, and restoring confidence within the party.
The group called on members nationwide to dedicate time to prayer and reflection, asking God for wisdom for the party’s leadership, healing where divisions exist, peace among members, and guidance as the NPP charts its path toward the 2028 elections.
Quoting 2 Chronicles 7:14 and 1 Corinthians 12:26, the clergy emphasized that humility, prayer, and collective responsibility remain essential for overcoming challenges and strengthening the party’s unity.
While acknowledging that recent developments surrounding the party have generated strong emotions among supporters, the group urged both political actors and religious leaders to avoid actions or statements that could deepen divisions or inflame tensions.
The message concluded with a note of optimism, expressing confidence that the current challenges could become an opportunity for renewal if members work together in unity.
“We declare that this season will not destroy the NPP. Instead, it should inspire the party to rise above division, rediscover its unity, reconnect with the people of Ghana, and prepare diligently for the future. With unity and God’s guidance, victory in 2028 remains possible,” the statement said.
